I’m sharing Wilfred’s cancer story here on my Mellulah website because I felt it was important that the story of his family and the research of his father, Will Salter, was available as soon as possible for my clients, yogis, retreat guests, or their loved ones, who are dealing with cancer in their lives.

I first met Will when he began coming to my yoga classes in Dorset during 2023, the time that Wilfred was in hospital. I could tell that he was going through something stressful, but had no idea of the magnitude of what was happening for him until he rejoined classes recently. We became friends and he started to share everything with me. The story deeply touched my heart, everything Will did for his son and all of his research was fascinating, and I felt an immediate draw to support him in getting this out there to the world.

If you wish to contact Will directly, he is more than open to talking to you. I will place his contact details at the end of this post.

Much love for your healing, Saira x

The Story Begins

Back in November 2022, when my son, 4 year old Wilfred, first began experiencing unexplained leg pain and difficulty going to the toilet, his mother Lucy and I never imagined the battle that we and Wilfred were about to face. At first, the doctors suspected constipation and prescribed laxatives. But when Wilfred continued to show symptoms, he went for a scan which revealed every parent’s worst nightmare: a tumour on his spine. We were rushed to Southampton general hospital for further scans and biopsies to find out the full extent of the prognosis. It was soon revealed he had High-Risk Neuroblastoma MYCN-Positive (cancer of immature nerve cells), which had metastasised several times throughout his body.

Uniting Science and Holistic Healing

Once he had a concrete diagnosis, he was put on a high dose chemotherapy, radiation & immunotherapy protocol with the intention of curing the disease. The duration of which was predicted to last well over a year.

While we were still on G2 Neuro Ward at Southampton, I found several studies showing Reishi mushroom powder had beneficial effects on cancer & the immune system, even one on neuroblastoma specifically. A friend of ours also gave us a bottle of full spectrum CBD oil, he had used to treat his dogs cancer which seemingly made a full recovery. So when the ward was quiet each night we would mix CBD & Reishi and put it in his mouth and then his nose tube (he had one put in quite quickly as did not like taking medication orally). This was the beginning of the journey into holistic healing. Wilfred was also at this time unable to use his legs and using a wheelchair to get around over long distances, when myself or his mother couldn’t carry him. We would massage and move his legs around as much as he would let us each day in the hope he would regain use of them eventually. The doctors were unsure at this point if he ever would, as the tumour was pressing against his spinal cord and permanent damage was a major risk.

Fighting for Better Nutrition

As Wilfred began chemotherapy, he started to lose his appetite and within a few weeks he was put on a tube-feed. Because neuroblastoma is a very rare childhood cancer, there aren’t many studies on this specific cancer, so I started researching generic hallmarks that all cancers share. One of the first things I came across was that all cancers capable of metastasis were heavily reliant on glucose as a fuel source (Warburg effect). When I examined the hospital-provided tube feeds, I was shocked. They were based on high-fructose corn syrup, processed oils & synthetic vitamins with little bio-availability – the ability to be actually used by the body.

Determined to give Wilfred the best chance, I developed a nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory feed, with as many cancer fighting properties as I could find. Blending organic fruits, vegetables, medicinal mushrooms, and high-quality fats & proteins. (jump to the full ingredients list for the tube feed)

The formula was designed to nourish Wilfred’s body at a cellular level. helping restore his body’s own immune system, cancer fighting genes and mitochondria. The hospital initially resisted, as we were breaking protocol and it had not really been done before, but we remained firm and it paid off. He was able to keep the feed down with no trouble (he vomited with every attempt at the hospital feed) and managed to stay free from serious infection and many of the side effects common with his chemotherapy.

A Glimmer Of Hope

By the time we were in London preparing for Wilfred to have his Proton Beam Therapy, a type of radiotherapy I had heard about which was far more accurate with less ‘splash’ on the surrounding tissues. We had the beginning of a metabolic protocol in place. He was taking 5000 ius of vitamin D3 with k2, magnesium, plus a tube feed with numerous agents that specifically targeted the hallmarks of cancer. He was also sleeping on a grounding sheet, as I had watched a documentary, The Grounded where a man introduces an entire town in Alaska to grounding/earthing. After 6-9 months of it, an elderly man regains the use of his legs after being in a wheelchair for years due to nerve damage & inflammation.

While we were at the hospital in London we got to see a montage of all his scans so far and were able to see his progress. It was amazing, scan by scan his tumours were dissipating. Whatever was working, it needed to continue. It was also during our time in Camden, London that Wilfred started regaining the ability to go the toilet un-aided and learning to walk and use his legs again. He was able to walk round the apartment and even attempt a wobbly run, when playing games of hide and seek & tag. Hope was starting to build.

Immunotherapy and a light at the end of the tunnel

His final part of the treatment was immunotherapy, which first consisted of high dose vitamin A (retinol) which was supposed to mature his immature nerve cells. Neuroblastoma is the cancer of immature nerve cells, which is why only children can be affected by it. He seemed to deal with the vitamin A no problem, with little to no side effects. Also by now, Wilfred had more or less regained full use of his legs, only getting tired over longer distances – we were so relieved and happy with this, as his doctors had been highly concerned that the tumour may have caused irreparable damage to his spinal cord.

At this point I’m really beginning to get a grasp for the metabolic theory of cancer and even had a brief email conversation with Professor Thomas Seyfried on how neuroblastoma could be affected by a metabolic protocol. The final part of the immunotherapy was a drug called Dinutuximab, which worked by targeting a specific molecule in neuroblastoma (GD2). He reacted very badly to this and had to stop treatment almost immediately. This was a bit of a kick in the teeth, as it was the part of the treatment the doctors were most optimistic about. Fortunately for us it didn’t matter, as the final part of this story will tell.

Ringing the Bell: A New Beginning

After enduring a year of chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, Proton Beam Therapy and Immunotherapy, Wilfred’s final scan showed only a tiny remnant of cancer, so small the surgeon couldn’t actually see it and had to get a radiologist to show him, which doctors also believed might no longer be active. He was declared in remission.

The moment he rang the hospital’s victory bell was surreal. There was no grand celebration, just a quiet recognition of the extraordinary journey we had been through. The small remnant was still a worry for me, if it decided to start being active again we would be back to square one, but this time in an even worse situation as relapse for neuroblastoma has very low survival rates. So we continued with as much of the protocol as possible. eventually adding methylene blue & zinc to his daily supplements, hiring a hyperbaric oxygen chamber for 8 weeks and having many sessions at an EE (energy enhancement) Centre in Bedford. (See additional information for more on these therapies).

At the EE Centre in Bedford I met a lady called Jessica Richards who managed to cure herself of her own cancer through diet, supplements and vitamin C IV. She is the author of the book The Topic of Cancer and became a great friend to myself and Wilfred and a big cheerleader for me in getting this information and story out there.

A Vision for the Future

As of today we are well over 2 years past his initial terrible diagnosis and Wilfred is healthy, happy and full of life. He goes to school, plays for a football club and goes bouldering regularly. To say we are proud of him would be a massive understatement.

The ultimate hope is that Wilfred’s story can help bridge the divide between mainstream and holistic medicine. We envision a future where hospitals integrate personalised nutrition, metabolic therapies, and holistic support alongside traditional cancer treatments when necessary.

Wilfreds Tube Feed

Will would mix this in an industrial blender and then sieve it twice to ensure it would go through the tube feed without any issues:

  • Two shallots or one big onion
  • Three or four broccoli heads
  • One orange pepper
  • Three cloves of raw garlic
  • Four boiled eggs (for protein and healthy fats)
  • Two golden kiwis (for DNA repair)
  • Half a punnet of blueberries (for antioxidants)
  • Cranberries, currants, and blackberries (for more antioxidants)
  • One avocado (for fats)
  • 3 tbsp Apple cider vinegar (Gut health)
  • Two full lemons and two full limes (to help neutralize acidity caused by cancer)
  • Three or four seconds of pouring unfiltered, cold-pressed olive oil (for polyphenols and healthy fats)
  • Two tablespoons of Irish sea moss (contains 90+ minerals that the body needs)
  • One heaped teaspoon of a greens powder (spirulina, chlorella, and other supergreens)
  • A big chunk of raw ginger (for gut health and anti-inflammatory benefits)
  • Turmeric with black pepper (for its anti-cancer properties—black pepper increases absorption)
  • Shiitake mushroom powder (stimulates T-cells to fight cancer)
  • Reishi mushroom powder (for immune support)
  • Lion’s Mane mushroom powder (to help regenerate nerve cells—important because of the spinal tumour)
  • Turkey Tail mushroom powder (Immune support)
  • Bone marrow capsules (to support Wilfred’s own bone marrow, which was being wiped out by chemotherapy)
  • Kidney and liver capsules (to help his body detoxify chemotherapy)
  • One teaspoon of matcha green tea (for anti-cancer properties)
  • One big spoonful of manuka honey (proven to have anti-cancer effects)
  • One pint of full-fat, unhomogenized, local raw milk
  • A pinch of Himalayan pink salt (for electrolytes—magnesium, potassium, sodium)

I continued researching and eventually put together this comprehensive metabolic protocol in the event that Wilfred relapsed, then this would be used either on its own or alongside another kind of treatment to give him the best chance possible. He currently takes vitamin D, k2, magnesium, zinc, methylene blue and sleeps on a grounding sheet with the hope we will never have to be in the situation again, as this should be enough to keep Wilfred well and healthy from now on. At this point after years of research i am in full belief that cancer is a metabolic disease and have even added to the ‘metabolic theory of cancer’ finding the ‘why’ which is the cells reversion to a eukaryotic cell like state – that ferments glucose for energy, divides and mutates rapidly, creates acidic micro environments and is essentially immortal, all the hallmarks of metastatic cancer.

Protocol Overview

This protocol is designed to revitalise the body and activate its inherent cancer-fighting capabilities. The body contains genes and cellular processes aimed at detecting and eliminating cancer cells, and the mitochondria act as a fail-safe mechanism by self-destructing if mutations are detected. The goal is to create a hostile environment for cancer by restoring normal pH, remineralising the body, depriving cancer of fuel, and targeting cancer cells directly using substances like ivermectin. This multi-faceted approach enhances the body’s natural capacity to reverse and eliminate cancer.

It’s important to remember I am not advocating for not listening to your doctor, rather if you have already made the decision to find an alternative route of therapy then hopefully this will help you. You could also work with this alongside traditional treatment such as chemotherapy and radiation, as a way to reduce side effects and increase the effectiveness of certain elements. Although being highly toxic they will reduce the potency of this protocol, as the aim is to restore your bodies natural anti-cancer properties and function.

The dosing is generic. I suggest you look at each part and research it for yourself, to find the correct dose for you. Some cancers are very aggressive and may require higher doses, some not so much. This is a rough guideline.

That being said, when I created it, it’s intended use was for my 6 year old son, if he ever relapsed with neuroblastoma, so I have strived to make it as non-toxic as possible, whilst simultaneously doing what is intended – reversing / eliminating cancerous tissue and restoring his body to full health.

This was written with the asumption that if you have ‘cancer’ then regardless of how healthy you may feel or look, your body is failing you. The anti-cancer genes aren’t working, the immune system isnt fully functioning, and your mitochondria are damaged. So the premise of it, as mentioned before, is to bring your bodies defence system, back ‘online’ and restore the bodies natural and amazing ability to detect, destroy and prevent cancer.

Comprehensive Cancer Protocol

Introduction:
This comprehensive protocol is designed to restore metabolic function, strengthen the immune system, and target cancer cells through a range of natural and non-toxic methods. The emphasis is on depriving cancer cells of their preferred fuel sources, reducing inflammation, and restoring the body’s ability to repair itself, while also supporting mitochondrial function, immune surveillance, and detoxification processes.

Cancer Targeting

1. Methylene Blue + Red Light

• Dosage: Methylene blue (1–2 mg/kg body weight), red light (10–20 minutes at 600-650 nm)

• Mechanism: Methylene blue is known to support mitochondrial function by improving oxygen utilisation, potentially disrupting cancer cell metabolism. Combined with red light therapy, it can further promote mitochondrial ATP production, creating an inhospitable environment for cancer cells that rely on fermentation.

• Source: “Methylene blue enhances mitochondrial function and reduces oxidative stress” (Vanderbilt University study, 2016). Red light therapy has been shown to enhance mitochondrial activity and improve tissue repair (Cell & Tissue Research, 2016).

2. Mebendazole + Ivermectin

• Dosage: Mebendazole (200 mg daily), Ivermectin (0.2 mg/kg body weight)

• Mechanism: Mebendazole targets cancer cell microtubules, inhibiting their ability to divide. Ivermectin, similarly, disrupts the cellular structure, acting on the parasitic-like nature of cancer cells. Both drugs interfere with cancer cell proliferation and migration.

• Source: “Mebendazole induces apoptosis in cancer cells via microtubule disruption” (The Lancet, 2013). Ivermectin’s role in cancer cell inhibition is discussed in “Ivermectin as a potential therapeutic agent for human cancers” (International Journal of Cancer, 2021).

3. Black Cumin Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa)

• Dosage: 1–2 teaspoons daily (usually taken with food)

• Mechanism: Contains thymoquinone, which has been shown to have anti-cancer effects by inducing apoptosis, inhibiting tumour growth, and reducing inflammation. It can also aid in the modulation of the immune response and oxidative stress reduction.

• Source: “Thymoquinone as a promising anticancer agent: Mechanisms and effects” (Phytotherapy Research, 2021).

Immune Restoration

1. CoQ10 + NAC (N-Acetylcysteine)

• Dosage: CoQ10 (100–200 mg daily), NAC (600 mg twice daily)

• Mechanism: CoQ10 supports mitochondrial health, which is crucial in maintaining immune function. NAC increases glutathione levels, a potent antioxidant that helps detoxify the body and enhances immune cell function. Both improve cellular energy and help counteract oxidative stress that suppresses immune activity.

• Source: “CoQ10 as a supplement in cancer therapy” (Mitochondrion, 2014). NAC’s immune-boosting effects are well documented (Antioxidants & Redox Signaling, 2013).

2. Full Spectrum CBD

• Dosage: 10–25 mg daily (starting low and gradually increasing as tolerated)

• Mechanism: CBD has shown to reduce inflammation and modulate immune responses, assisting the body’s ability to combat cancer. It interacts with the endocannabinoid system to promote cell death (apoptosis) in tumour cells.

• Source: “Cannabidiol (CBD) induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human glioma cells” (Molecular Pharmacology, 2011).

Mitochondria Restoration

1. Vitamin D (10,000 IU daily) + Vitamin K2

• Dosage: Vitamin D (10,000 IU), Vitamin K2 (100–200 mcg)

• Mechanism: Vitamin D is crucial for mitochondrial function, influencing mitochondrial biogenesis and repair. Vitamin K2 works synergistically with vitamin D to regulate calcium metabolism, which is essential for mitochondrial function and immune system regulation. Both also support anti-cancer activity by inhibiting tumour cell growth.

• Source: “Vitamin D and mitochondrial function: Implications for cancer prevention” (Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2018).

2. Magnesium

• Dosage: Magnesium (300–400 mg daily)

• Mechanism: Magnesium plays a central role in mitochondrial function, energy production, and cellular processes. It enhances the production of ATP and has been shown to play a part in cancer prevention and treatment.

• Source: “Magnesium intake and cancer prevention” (The Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2014).

Fuel Deprivation

1. Organic Fat-Based Diet

• Dosage: Based on individual requirements, but aiming for a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate intake.

• Mechanism: Cancer cells primarily rely on glucose for fuel (the Warburg effect), and a fat-based diet deprives them of this source. The body enters a state of ketosis, using fats for energy, which further starves cancer cells and encourages apoptosis.

• Source: “Ketogenic diet and cancer: A review of the literature” (Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2017).

2. Intermittent + Prolonged Fasting

• Dosage: Intermittent fasting (16/8, meaning 16 hours fasting, 8 hours eating) and 7-day prolonged fasting (occasionally depending on individual tolerance).

• Mechanism: Fasting activates autophagy, a process that removes damaged cells and promotes the repair of mitochondria. It also reduces glucose availability, further depriving cancer cells of their primary fuel source.

• Source: “Fasting and cancer: Molecular mechanisms and clinical application” (Nature Reviews Cancer, 2021).

Cellular Detoxification and Tissue Alkalisation

1. Lemon + Lime Juice + Irish Sea Moss

• Dosage: Juice of 1–2 lemons/limes daily, Irish sea moss (1–2 tablespoons daily)

• Mechanism: The alkalising effects of lemon and lime juice help neutralise the acidic environment cancer cells favour. Irish sea moss is rich in minerals that assist in detoxifying the body and restoring balance. The alkalisation of tissues helps prevent metastasis and cancer cell growth.

• Source: “Acid-base homeostasis and its role in cancer” (Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2014).

General Health and Repair

1. Organic Grass-Fed Liver + Kidney Tablets

• Dosage: 1–2 tablets per day (depending on the concentration of the supplement)

• Mechanism: These organs are rich in bioavailable nutrients such as vitamin A, B vitamins, iron, and zinc, which are essential for cellular repair, immune support, and overall health.

• Source: “Nutritional supplementation with organ meats in health and disease” (Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, 2019).

2. Mushroom Powder (e.g., Reishi, Shiitake, Maitake)

• Dosage: 1–2 teaspoons per day (standardised extract)

• Mechanism: Mushrooms like Reishi and Shiitake have immune-boosting, anti-cancer properties, including the modulation of immune cells to target cancer. They also help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.

• Source: “Medicinal mushrooms as immunomodulatory agents” (Phytomedicine, 2018).

Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Support

1. Green Tea + Shilajit

• Dosage: 1–2 cups of green tea per day, Shilajit (300–500 mg daily)

• Mechanism: Green tea is rich in polyphenols like EGCG, which can help prevent cancer cell growth and metastasis by targeting multiple pathways. Shilajit is a natural substance that supports mitochondrial function, reduces inflammation, and improves nutrient absorption.

• Source: “Green tea polyphenols as anticancer agents” (Cancer Letters, 2012). “Shilajit and its antioxidant properties” (Pharmacognosy Review, 2012).

2. Hydrogen Water

• Dosage: 1–2 glasses per day (H2 concentration of 1–1.5 ppm)

• Mechanism: Hydrogen water has antioxidant properties, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, supporting mitochondrial function, and improving cellular energy.

• Source: “Molecular hydrogen as a therapeutic antioxidant: A review” (Current Drug Targets, 2016).

3. Curcumin + Black Pepper

• Dosage: Curcumin (500–1000 mg per day), Black Pepper (5–10 mg per day, to enhance absorption)

• Mechanism: Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has anti-cancer properties, including anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and apoptotic effects. Black pepper enhances curcumin’s bioavailability, allowing the body to better utilise its cancer-fighting properties.

• Source: “Curcumin as an anti-cancer agent: Mechanisms and clinical applications” (International Journal of Cancer, 2019).

Grounding (10+ hours/day)

• Purpose: Grounding, or earthing, involves direct contact with the Earth to balance electrical charges in the body.
• Benefits:

  • Enhanced Blood Flow: Grounding coats the blood in negative electrons, which repel each other, promoting faster blood flow and better oxygenation of tissues.
  • Reduction of Inflammation: Studies have shown grounding can significantly reduce inflammation markers, which is essential for cancer prevention and management.
  • Improved Cellular Function: The influx of electrons stabilizes cell membranes, reduces oxidative stress, and supports the body’s natural healing processes.

Cancer: A Metabolic Disease Rooted in Evolution

For decades, the dominant theory of cancer has been the Somatic Mutation Theory, which attributes the disease to random genetic mutations causing uncontrolled cell growth. While widely accepted, this theory fails to address fundamental features of cancer and contains significant contradictions.

An alternative explanation, the Metabolic Theory of Cancer, offers a more coherent understanding. It identifies mitochondrial dysfunction—not genetic mutations—as the root cause of cancer. This dysfunction forces cells to revert to fermentation as their primary energy source, even in the presence of oxygen, and triggers profound changes in cell behaviour. My contribution builds on this foundation by tying cancer to its evolutionary roots, revealing it as a reversion to the pre-symbiotic state of early eukaryotic cells.

1. Mitochondrial Dysfunction and the Metabolic Nature of Cancer

Mitochondria are the energy-producing organelles within cells, responsible for generating ATP through oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). This oxygen-dependent process is highly efficient, producing 36 times more energy than fermentation. However, when mitochondria are damaged, cells lose the ability to utilise oxygen, forcing them to revert to fermentation—a primitive, inefficient process that generates energy from glucose in the absence of oxygen.

This metabolic shift is critical to the cancer process: 1. Why Do Cells Use Fermentation in the Presence of Oxygen? Cancer cells still choose fermentation (the Warburg Effect) even in oxygen-rich environments because their mitochondria are dysfunctional. They physically cannot perform OXPHOS due to damage to the mitochondrial genome, membranes, or enzymes involved in the electron transport chain. This dysfunction is a hallmark of all cancer cells capable of metastasis. Studies have consistently shown that without mitochondrial dysfunction, cancer cannot metastasise.

2. Mitochondrial Dysfunction as the Key Driver of Cancer

Behaviour: Healthy mitochondria do more than produce energy—they act as cellular regulators:

• Signal the cell to repair damage to its DNA, RNA, or proteins.

• Trigger apoptosis (programmed cell death) if the damage is irreparable, ensuring that dysfunctional cells do not proliferate.

When mitochondria are damaged, this regulatory system collapses.

Damaged mitochondria cannot:

• Signal for repair effectively.

• Trigger apoptosis. Instead, cells with severe damage become immortal, bypassing apoptosis entirely.

This loss of mitochondrial function is the tipping point for cancer. It allows damaged cells to survive, replicate uncontrollably, and evade immune detection, giving rise to the hallmarks of cancer: immortality, unchecked growth, metabolic reprogramming, and invasiveness.

3. Evidence Supporting Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Cancer

• Studies have shown that transplanting healthy mitochondria into cancer cells can reverse their malignant behaviour, restoring normal function.

• Conversely, transplanting dysfunctional mitochondria into healthy cells can induce cancerous behaviour.

• No cancer capable of metastasis has been found with fully functional mitochondria, underscoring the centrality of mitochondrial dysfunction.

4. Acidic Environment and Immune Evasion.

The reliance on fermentation produces lactic acid, which lowers the pH in the tumour microenvironment. This acidic environment:

• Facilitates tumour invasion and metastasis.

• Suppresses immune cells, such as T-cells and natural killer cells, allowing cancer to evade the immune system.

Why the Metabolic Theory Works

The Metabolic Theory provides a unifying explanation for cancer’s key features, which the Somatic Mutation Theory cannot:

• The Warburg Effect: Cancer cells rely on fermentation, even in the presence of oxygen. This is a direct result of mitochondrial dysfunction, not random genetic mutations.

• Universality: While genetic mutations vary across cancers, mitochondrial dysfunction and the metabolic shift to fermentation are consistent in all cancers.

• Reversibility: Restoring mitochondrial function can reverse cancerous behaviour, whereas targeting mutations alone often fails.

Critique of the Somatic Mutation Theory

The Somatic Mutation Theory assumes that genetic mutations drive cancer, but it fails to address:

• The chaotic nature of mutations in cancer cells, which often appear as a consequence of the disease rather than the cause.

• The lack of consistency in specific driver mutations across cancers.

• Why all cancers share metabolic changes that are better explained by mitochondrial dysfunction.

My Contribution: Cancer as a Reversion to a Pre-Symbiotic State

To understand cancer fully, we must look back into evolutionary history.

Before the Great Oxygenation Event 2.5 billion years ago, early eukaryotic cells existed in an oxygen-scarce environment. They relied on glucose fermentation for energy and survived by rapidly dividing to adapt to harsh conditions. This primitive metabolism was sufficient in a world without oxygen but highly inefficient compared to OXPHOS.

The rise of oxygen allowed eukaryotic cells to form a symbiotic relationship with bacteria, which evolved into mitochondria. This partnership revolutionised life:

• Mitochondria enabled cells to utilise oxygen, producing energy 36 times more efficiently than fermentation.

• Eukaryotic cells became more stable, developing apoptosis and repair mechanisms to ensure survival in a stable oxygen-rich environment.

Cancer is a reversion to the pre-symbiotic, eukaryotic state. When mitochondria are damaged, cells lose their ability to utilise oxygen and revert to their ancestral metabolism, relying on fermentation, rapid division, and adaptation to an acidic, hostile environment. This reversion is not random—it is an evolutionary survival mechanism triggered by mitochondrial dysfunction.

Conclusion

By understanding cancer as a metabolic disease rooted in mitochondrial dysfunction and evolutionary biology, we can develop more effective approaches to prevention and treatment. Instead of attacking tumours with toxic therapies, we can target the metabolic vulnerabilities of cancer cells, restoring mitochondrial function and promoting balance within the body.

This theory challenges the outdated genetic model of cancer and paves the way for innovative therapies that address the true root cause of the disease.

Causes of Cancer & How to Avoid Exposure

Introduction

Cancer isn’t random—it’s largely a metabolic and environmental disease, driven by toxins, pollutants, and lifestyle factors that damage mitochondria and disrupt normal cellular function.

While healing the body metabolically is key, reducing exposure to carcinogens and detoxifying accumulated toxins is equally critical.

This section covers the major environmental causes of cancer, how they interfere with essential bodily functions, and how to eliminate them from your life.

  1. Food & Drink

Most modern food contains chemical additives, endocrine disruptors, and mitochondrial toxins that interfere with metabolism, immune function, and detox pathways. These substances burden the body, making it more susceptible to disease.

Common Toxins in Food & Drinks

• Artificial sweeteners (Aspartame, Sucralose, Saccharin) – Linked to mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, and microbiome damage. Found in diet fizzy drinks and sugar-free products.

• Seed oils (Canola, Soy, Sunflower, Corn Oil, etc.) – Promote inflammation and oxidative stress. Found in processed foods and fast food.

• Glyphosate (Roundup) & Pesticides – Carcinogenic herbicides and pesticides that disrupt gut bacteria, damage mitochondria, and block detox pathways. Found in non-organic grains, vegetables, fruit, and animal feed.

• Antibiotics & Growth Hormones – Given to conventionally farmed livestock, leading to antibiotic resistance and hormone imbalances in humans. Found in non-organic meat, dairy, and eggs.

• Nitrates/Nitrites – Convert into carcinogenic nitrosamines in the stomach. Found in processed meats, deli meats, and bacon.

• BPA & Phthalates – Endocrine disruptors that mimic estrogen and fuel hormone-related cancers. Found in plastic food containers and canned foods.

• Artificial colors & preservatives – Linked to hyperactivity, neurotoxicity, and oxidative stress. Found in sweets, fizzy drinks, and processed snacks.

• Heavy metals (Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic) – Damage mitochondria, interfere with enzymatic function, and promote cancer. Found in contaminated seafood, non-organic rice, and tap water.

How to Avoid Exposure

• Eat whole, unprocessed foods like fresh meat, eggs, dairy, vegetables, and fruit.

• Buy organic whenever possible, especially for grains, vegetables, fruit, dairy, and meat to avoid pesticides, antibiotics, and hormone exposure.

• Avoid anything highly processed with long ingredient lists.

• Store food in glass or stainless steel instead of plastic.

  1. Tap Water

Municipal tap water contains a mix of heavy metals, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and microplastics, which accumulate in the body over time, damaging mitochondria and increasing cancer risk.

Common Contaminants in Tap Water

• Fluoride – Linked to thyroid dysfunction, neurotoxicity, and lower IQ.

• Chlorine & Chloramines – Damage gut bacteria and form carcinogenic byproducts.

• PFAS (“Forever Chemicals”) – Suppress immune function, disrupt hormones, and increase cancer risk.

• Lead & Heavy Metals – Damage mitochondria, impair detox pathways, and increase oxidative stress.

• Pharmaceutical residues (Estrogen, Antibiotics, SSRIs, Statins, etc.) – Interfere with hormone balance and contribute to antibiotic resistance.

• Microplastics – Carry endocrine-disrupting chemicals that mimic estrogen.

How to Avoid Exposure

• Use a high-quality water filter – Reverse Osmosis (RO) is best but must be remineralized.

• Berkey filters are another good option for heavy metal & fluoride removal.

• Avoid plastic bottled water, which contains microplastics.

  1. Household Toxins

Many household products release carcinogenic chemicals into the air, affecting the respiratory system, immune system, and endocrine balance.

Common Household Carcinogens

• Flame retardants – Found in furniture, mattresses, and electronics. Linked to hormone disruption and neurotoxicity.

• Air fresheners & scented candles – Release benzene, formaldehyde, and synthetic fragrances that damage the lungs and nervous system.

• Cleaning products – Contain ammonia, chlorine, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which increase cancer risk and damage lung tissue.

• Non-stick pans (Teflon/PFAS) – Linked to thyroid disorders, cancer, and infertility.

• Plastic cookware – Leaches endocrine disruptors when heated.

How to Avoid Exposure

• Replace non-stick pans with stainless steel or cast iron.

• Use natural cleaning products like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils.

• Avoid air fresheners and scented candles—use beeswax candles or essential oil diffusers instead.

  1. Cosmetics & Personal Care

Most cosmetics contain petroleum-based chemicals, parabens, phthalates, and artificial estrogens, which are absorbed through the skin and disrupt hormones.

Common Toxins in Cosmetics

• Parabens – Found in lotions, shampoos, and makeup. Mimic estrogen and are linked to breast cancer.

How Metabolic Diseases Can Be Reversed Using the Cancer Protocol

Introduction

Metabolic diseases—including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, fatty liver disease, neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s), autoimmune conditions, and even long COVID—are all rooted in the same core issue: mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic dysregulation.

By restoring mitochondrial function, improving insulin sensitivity, eliminating nutrient deficiencies, and detoxifying the body, these diseases can not only be managed but, in many cases, fully reversed.

As it turns out my cancer protocol provides the perfect framework for restoring metabolic health by addressing the root causes rather than just suppressing symptoms. Metabolic disease is a spectrum of sorts, with mild issues such as obesity, insulin resistance and general fatigue, which are generally listed as symptoms of a ‘normal’ lifestyle & aging.

But this is not the case, if left unchecked and a detrimental lifestyle is continued then the issues will progress into further dysfunction, manifesting as heart disease, neurodegeneration or even full blown metastatic cancer. Cancer isn’t separate to the other metabolic diseases it is just the extreme end of the spectrum. The same mechanisms, insulin resistance, mitochondrial dysfunction, nutritional deficiency’s & environment toxins drive everything from obesity to diabetes to cancer and even impair the bodies ability to fight off unrelated illness such as bacterial, viral and parasitic infections.

  1. Regaining Insulin Sensitivity (Key for Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Heart Disease, Fatty Liver, and Even Cancer Prevention)

Problem:

• Insulin resistance is the underlying driver of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, and even many cancers.

• Chronically high insulin promotes fat storage, inflammation, and mitochondrial damage, pushing cells toward dysfunction.

• Sugar and carbohydrate overconsumption overstimulates insulin production, leading to metabolic syndrome.

How the Protocol Reverses It:

• Fat-Based Diet (Ketogenic, Carnivore, or Low-Carb High-Fat) → Eliminates the glucose/insulin spikes that drive metabolic dysfunction.

• Intermittent & Prolonged Fasting → Forces the body to burn stored fat for fuel, lowers insulin levels, and promotes autophagy (cellular repair).

• Mushroom Extracts (Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps) → Improve glucose metabolism and insulin signaling.

• Supplements (Berberine, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Chromium, Magnesium) → Support insulin sensitivity naturally.

By removing the constant insulin spikes from diet and optimizing fat metabolism, cells regain their ability to process energy efficiently, reversing insulin resistance.

  1. Mitochondrial Restoration (Key for Cancer, Heart Disease, Neurodegeneration, Chronic Fatigue, Autoimmune Diseases, and Aging Reversal)

Problem:

• Mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell, but toxins, poor diet, and chronic inflammation damage them.

• When mitochondria fail, the body loses energy production, leading to cancer, neurodegeneration, chronic fatigue, and metabolic diseases.

• Aging itself is largely a process of mitochondrial decline.

How the Protocol Reverses It:

• Methylene Blue → Directly enhances mitochondrial function and ATP production.

• Grounding (Earthing) → Reduces oxidative stress by restoring electrical balance in the body, which protects mitochondria.

• Red Light Therapy (Near-Infrared/Full-Spectrum Sunlight) → Stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis (the creation of new mitochondria).

• CoQ10 & PQQ → Act as mitochondrial fuel, improving efficiency and reducing oxidative damage.

• Hydrogen Water → Neutralizes mitochondrial oxidative stress, preventing DNA damage.

By restoring mitochondria, cells regain their ability to generate energy efficiently, reversing metabolic dysfunction at the core level.

  1. Restoring Nutrient Deficiencies Through High-Quality Food & Supplements (Key for Autoimmune Disorders, Hormonal Imbalances, Neurological Disorders, and Immune System Repair)

Problem:

• Modern food is stripped of essential nutrients, leading to widespread deficiencies in magnesium, vitamin D, zinc, iodine, B vitamins, and more.

• Deficiencies drive immune dysfunction, neurological disorders, and hormone imbalances.

How the Protocol Reverses It:

• Organic, High-Quality Whole Foods → Provide bioavailable nutrients without the toxic load of processed foods.

• Grass-Fed Liver & Kidney Supplements → Nature’s multivitamin, supplying vitamin A, B12, iron, and other crucial nutrients.

• Shilajit & Sea Moss → Provide over 90 essential minerals that modern diets lack.

• Vitamin D, Magnesium, Zinc, K2 → Correct widespread deficiencies that affect immune function and hormone regulation.

• MSM (Sulfur) & NAC → Improve detox pathways and glutathione production.

By replenishing essential nutrients, the body can repair itself at the cellular level, restoring proper function and preventing disease.

  1. Reducing Toxin Exposure & Detoxifying the Body (Key for Cancer, Autoimmune Disorders, Neurological Issues, Hormonal Imbalances, and Chronic Inflammation)

Problem:

• The modern world is saturated with toxins—from heavy metals to endocrine disruptors to microplastics—all of which damage metabolism and mitochondrial function.

• Toxins accumulate in fat tissue, organs, and the nervous system, leading to long-term disease.

How the Protocol Reverses It:

• Activated Charcoal & Zeolite → Bind to heavy metals and chemical toxins, eliminating them safely.

• Sauna (Sweating Therapy) → Expels stored toxins like PFAS, plastics, and pesticides through the skin.

• Lugol’s Iodine & Borax Protocol → Detox fluoride and restore thyroid function.

• High-Fiber Diet (Chia, Flax, Psyllium Husk) → Removes microplastics and gut toxins.

• Cruciferous Vegetables & DIM Supplements → Eliminate excess estrogen and xenoestrogens from plastics and chemicals.

By reducing toxin exposure and actively detoxifying the body, chronic inflammation and disease triggers are removed, allowing full recovery.

Diseases That Can Be Reversed or Managed With This Protocol

Additional Treatments to Consider

While the core protocol is designed to fully restore metabolic function and reverse cancer at its root, some additional therapies may provide enhanced benefits, particularly for advanced cases or as complementary treatments.

These therapies work by enhancing oxygen delivery, improving mitochondrial function, and increasing oxidative stress against cancer cells, further pushing the body into a state of healing while making survival impossible for dysfunctional cells.

  1. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

How It Works

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, dramatically increasing oxygen levels in the blood and tissues.

• Under normal conditions, oxygen is carried by red blood cells.

• Under hyperbaric conditions, oxygen dissolves directly into plasma, allowing it to penetrate deeper into tissues that may have reduced circulation or oxygen availability.

• This reverses hypoxia (oxygen starvation), which is a hallmark of cancerous and metabolically dysfunctional tissues.

Applications for Cancer & Metabolic Disease

• Kills Fermenting Cancer Cells – Cancer thrives in low-oxygen, acidic environments, so HBOT floods the tumor with oxygen, forcing it to rely on mitochondrial respiration—a process that dysfunctional cancer cells cannot sustain.

• Enhances Mitochondrial Function – More oxygen allows healthy cells to produce ATP more efficiently, reversing metabolic disorders.

• Increases Stem Cell Production – HBOT promotes regeneration and healing, making it beneficial for neurodegenerative diseases, chronic inflammation, and immune dysfunction.

• Synergistic with Ketogenic Diet & Fasting – Research shows HBOT works best when paired with ketosis, as cancer cells are already weakened from glucose deprivation.

Potential Use Cases

• Cancer (Especially Brain Tumors, Breast, Prostate, and Pancreatic Cancer)

• Neurodegenerative Diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Stroke Recovery)

• Chronic Fatigue & Autoimmune Conditions

• Diabetic Wounds & Tissue Repair

  1. Energy Enhancement (EE) Therapy

How It Works

EE Therapy (Energy Enhancement Therapy) uses scalar energy fields and pulsed electromagnetic frequencies (PEMFs) to charge the body at the cellular level.

• Cells function electrically, and chronic illness is often linked to a loss of cellular voltage.

• EE Therapy recharges mitochondria, improving energy production and reducing oxidative stress.

• May help restore DNA integrity by improving intracellular communication and reducing environmental EMF damage.

Applications for Cancer & Metabolic Disease

• Increases Cellular ATP Production – Helps restore mitochondrial function, improving metabolic efficiency in every cell.

• Reduces Inflammation & Improves Detox Pathways – Helps the body expel heavy metals and environmental toxins.

• May Help Disrupt Cancer Cell Signaling – Some research suggests scalar energy interferes with cancer cell division, limiting their growth.

• Accelerates Recovery from Chronic Illness & Injury – Used by some for autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, and neurological repair.

Potential Use Cases

• Cancer (As a Complementary Therapy to Other Metabolic Strategies)

• Neurological & Autoimmune Disorders (MS, Lyme, Fibromyalgia, ALS, etc.)

• Heavy Metal & EMF Detoxification

• General Mitochondrial Repair & Longevity

  1. Intravenous Vitamin C (IVC)

How It Works

High-dose intravenous Vitamin C acts as a pro-oxidant against cancer cells while supporting the immune system and tissue repair.

• At high enough concentrations, Vitamin C generates hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), which selectively kills cancer cells while leaving normal cells unharmed.

• Unlike oral Vitamin C, intravenous delivery bypasses gut absorption, reaching blood concentrations high enough to function as a potent oxidative therapy.

Applications for Cancer & Metabolic Disease

• Directly Kills Cancer Cells via Oxidative Stress – In high doses, Vitamin C produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), damaging cancer cells while supporting immune function.

• Supports Collagen & Tissue Repair – Helps restore vascular integrity, crucial for patients undergoing detoxification and recovery.

• Improves Immune Response – Enhances white blood cell function and reduces inflammation.

Protects Against Chemotherapy Damage – Reduces side effects of toxic conventional treatments without interfering with their efficacy.

Potential Use Cases

• Cancer (Works Best with HBOT & Ketosis to Increase Oxidative Stress in Tumors)

• Chronic Fatigue & Autoimmune Diseases

• Neurodegenerative Conditions & Brain Injury Recovery

• Viral & Bacterial Infections (Lyme, Epstein-Barr, Long COVID, etc.)

Final Thoughts

Each of these therapies has scientifically supported mechanisms that align perfectly with the core metabolic protocol.

• Hyperbaric Oxygen – Forces cancer cells into an oxygen-rich environment they can’t survive in.

• EE Therapy – Recharges cells at the electrical level, optimizing metabolism and detoxification.

• IV Vitamin C – Kills cancer cells via pro-oxidant effects while supporting tissue repair and immunity.
